High Commissioner pays rich tributes to Sir Gerald Kaufman MP

H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK paid rich tributes to Sir Gerald Kaufman MP who passed away last month. Speaking at a Memorial Tribute in Honour of Sir Gerald Kaufman MP at the House of House of Lords on 29 March 2017, the High Commissioner termed him a true friend of Pakistan as well as the voice of the voiceless and vulnerable segments of humanity.

The High Commissioner said: “Sir Gerald Kaufman MP was a veteran British parliamentarian, a wise man, and a great human being, who will be missed by all who knew him; a larger than life and iconic figure who set high standards in politics and always stood for rightful causes and for the rights of the oppressed people.

“He was a true friend of Pakistan, in recognition of which, he was conferred prestigious civil award of the country Hilal-e-Pakistan by the Government.”

The Memorial was attended by several Lords, MPs and members of the Pakistani community. All paid glowing tributes to Sir Gerald Kaufman as a great parliamentarian and great human being.
