Prime Minister committed to making Pakistan a modern welfare state: Speaker Asad Qaiser

Invites diaspora to invest in Pakistan

Mr Asad Qaiser, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan has said Prime Minister Imran Khan is committed to making Pakistan a modern welfare state where all citizens have equal rights and equal opportunities. The Speaker was addressing the Pakistani community at the Pakistan High Commission London on 5 January 2019.

On his arrival at the High Commission, Mr Muhammad Ayub, Acting High Commissioner welcomed the Speaker. He thanked the Speaker for taking out time to visit the High Commission and meeting with the community.

In his address, the Speaker said that setting the economy on right track is the priority of the government. In this regard, he added, the Prime Minister Imran Khan has visited friendly countries like China, Saudi Arabia and UAE to seek necessary economic cooperation.

He stated the government is taking steps to bolster exports of Pakistan. He shared with the audience that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would turn Pakistan into a regional hub for business and trade.

The Speaker said the government is committed to accountability and transparency. Zero tolerance for corruption is the motto of the government, he added.

The Speaker commended the diaspora for their invaluable contributions not only to the British society but to the development and progress of Pakistan as well. He called upon the professionals and business persons to help Pakistan in their relevant fields. Mr Asad Qaiser specifically urged the diaspora to invest in Pakistan and promised all possible facilitation to the investors, including one-window operation for business and investment facilitation.

The Speaker said that after Brexit, there would be new business and trade opportunities between Pakistan and the UK. He said Pakistan would like to enhance it trade and economic relations with the post-Brexit UK.
