Scraping of Article 370 has not changed the status of J & K. (KVI)

London: The scraping of Article 370 of Indian Constitution has not in any way affected the status of Kashmir problem. It has instead come up and became the subject of international attention. This was stated by Dr. Inayatullah Andrabi, a well-known Kashmiri leader, in the third anniversary meeting of Kashmir Voice International (KVI) held on 7th March 2020 at London.

He said that the issue has come to the focus of U S Congress, British and European Parliaments besides having received sufficient coverage in the western press and electronic media.

While discussing the abolition of Article 370 it was stated that all the decisions of undermining the State Constitution, application of Indian Constitution on the state and eroding the autonomy of the state after 1953 have not served the intended purpose of integrating Kashmir with India. These measures have instead strengthened the alienation of the people of state. The decision of 5th August 2019 has scraped even the last link and dismantled the constitutional relationship between the State and the Centre.

It was stated that more than 7 million Kashmiris are under siege. There is a complete gag on the voice of people. The bureaucracy employed by Delhi is busy with strengthening the central rule with the support of the armed forces resulting in serious violations and suppression of human, political, religious, economic and other rights.

KVI demands an end to all the human rights violations, restoration of facilities for business and economic growth, removal of restrictions on peaceful political activities, release of political detainees imprisoned before or after 5th August 2019 and removal of restrictions on print and electronic media.

To promote an united voice need for bringing together valley diaspora was felt. It was decided that a conference of Kashmir Valley Diaspora will be organised in UK. A group of KVI members has been assigned the job of preparing initial materials for this purpose. Members of all faith communities and regions from Jammu & Kashmir living in UK will be invited to participate in this conference and be part of KVI programs.
