Kashmir is different from what it was before 5th of August 2019 as the reports pour in

(PR-KVI-London): A meeting of Kashmir Voice International (KVI) was held on 30.11.2019 at Spice Village, Southall London which was also attended by some non KVI members from valley diaspora. In the meeting the present situation of Kashmir was discussed. The participants expressed serious concern regarding the painful situation obtaining in Kashmir valley and human rights violations to which our people are afflicted.

Kashmir is different from what it was before 5th of August 2019 as the reports pour in. The ground realities are too harsh and depressing. The claim of normalcy is unfounded which is clear from the reports of some intellectuals, politicians and human rights groups of India.

The process of application of the provisions of Indian constitution on J & K state through the erosion of autonomy from time to time has defeated its aim and instead strengthened the alienation of Kashmiris whose resolve for freedom has strengthened. The repression and trauma caused through deploying hundreds of thousands of armed forces on the streets of Kashmir has not broken the will of the people who have resorted to peaceful resistance for the last four months while facing worst type of hardships.

No amount of constitutional changes and application of Indian laws have affected the existence of Kashmir issue which continues to draw attention at international level. Kashmir is a political issue and needs solution.

In the meeting role of Kashmir Valley Diaspora in UK to help ease miserable condition of Kashmir was discussed. It was felt that all the members of Valley Diaspora should stand to work together. Secretary KVI Javid Kakroo assured the participants all cooperation from KVI for a united initiative. It was resolved that KVI approaches different groups and individuals to come together and float a JOINT KASHMIR ACTION GROUP for future programs and endeavours.

At the end two new members joined KVI who were warmly welcomed.
