Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood visits the High Commission

Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood who is currently in London to participate in the Education World Forum (EWF), visited the High Commission along with his delegation on 24 January 2019. He was accompanied by the provincial and regional representatives from Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.

High Commissioner Mohammad Nafees Zakaria hosted a welcome reception at the High Commission for the delegates. Representatives of the British Council Pakistan were also among the invitees.

In his remarks on the occasion, the Minister termed the delegation’s participation in the EWF a very rewarding opportunity.

Pakistan and the UK enjoy historical and traditionally very close and cordial relations, the Minister said. He also appreciated the role of Pakistani Diaspora in cementing these ties and emphasized on the need for a close interaction with the Diaspora and the student community.

While welcoming the Delegation, the High Commissioner thanked the British Council for organising the visit of Pakistan delegation to the EWF and appreciated its contribution to the education sector of Pakistan.
